Isolation of a strain of cucumber mosaic virus from the bean in Iraq

, : Isolation of a strain of cucumber mosaic virus from the bean in Iraq. Mesopotamia Journal of Agriculture 15(1): 167-178

The virus (designated CMV-B) was isolated from Phaseolus vulgaris plants with green vein-banding and mosaic mottling and identified by host range, properties in sap, transmission and cross-protection tests. It infected plants in the Amaranthaceae, Chenopodiaceae, Compositae, Cucurbitaceae, Leguminosae and Solanaceae. It was inactivated at 70 deg C, withstood dilution at 10-3 but not 10-4 and retained infectivity for 3 days. It was transmitted from bean to cucumber by Myzus persicae.
