Isolation of biochemical mutants in somatic cell-cultures of Nicotiana tabacum

, : Isolation of biochemical mutants in somatic cell-cultures of Nicotiana tabacum. Symposium on plant tissue culture, genetic manipulation and somatic hybridization of plant cells Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, Bombay, India 27-29 February, 1980: 18

Two types of mutant were isolated from haploid cell cultures. The first consisted of auxotrophs that required thiamine hydrochloride, pyridoxine hydrochloride, biotin, folic acid or nicotinic acid and were isolated, by means of selective media which allowed only auxotrophs to grow, from among cells treated with 0.05% ethyl methanesulphonate.
