Jejuno-ileal bypass operation for the treatment of morbid obesity. Short- and long-term consequences analysed in a follow-up study of 36 patients

, : Jejuno-ileal bypass operation for the treatment of morbid obesity. Short- and long-term consequences analysed in a follow-up study of 36 patients. Scandinavian Journal of Gastroenterology 14(5): 535-543

Follow-up results in 36 morbidly obese patients treated with jejunoileal bypass are presented. The frequency of complicating associated diseases before operation was high and early and late complications after operation were common. Weight loss was unsatisfactory in 31% and one-third of the patients had to maintain a relatively energy-restricted diet to avoid weight gain.
