Ovaries were recovered after slaughter from cows superovulated after oestrus and from non-superovulated cows. Oocytes were cultured for 20-24 or 40-48 h in Eagle's minimal essential medium supplemented with calf serum (66%), L-glutamine and antibiotics, or in Ham's F10 medium supplemented with serum from an oestrous cow (20%), L-glutamine, oestradiol-17 beta , HCG, Hepes buffer and antibiotics.
