, : Modification of the physical and chemical characteristics of forages and the effects upon intake, digestion and utilization. Publication, Commission of the European Communities: 171-182

A review of the possible ways in which modifications can be made in the physical and chemical characteristics of fodders is presented. The influences of fodder characteristics, e.g. cell wall content, resistance to comminution and leafiness, and of processes such as grinding, chopping, ensiling and supplement feeding, on fodder intake are discussed.
