Alate aphid counts on maize in south-eastern New York State in 1977--79 showed that the major maize darf mosaic virus (MDMV) vectors arriving on this host were Rhopalosiphum maidis (Fitch), Macrosiphum euphorbiae (Thos.), Sitobion avenae (F.) M. avenae and Myzus persicae (Sulz.).
