Overwintering of a population of Sesamia nonagrioides Lef. (Lep., Noctuidae) in the south of France

, : Overwintering of a population of Sesamia nonagrioides Lef. (Lep., Noctuidae) in the south of France. Agronomie 2(6): 561-566

The overwintering of a population of Sesamia nonagrioides (Lef.) was studied in the south of France, the northern limit of its range, between 1978 and 1981. Maize canes were stored outdoors and sampled twice monthly from August 1978 to May 1979. The overwintering larvae collected were kept at 25 deg C and 3 different daylengths (LD 18:6, 14:10 or 12:12), or at 21 or 15 deg C and 2 daylengths (LD 16:8 or 12:12).
