Pale western cutworm: chemical control and effect on yield of winter wheat in Kansas

, : Pale western cutworm: chemical control and effect on yield of winter wheat in Kansas. Journal of Economic Entomology 73(1): 138-140

Field tests were conducted in Kansas during 1978 to evaluate the effectiveness of various insecticidal treatments in controlling infestation by Agrotis orthogonia Morr. in winter wheat. All chemical treatments significantly reduced A. orthogonia numbers below those in the untreated control. However, only permethrin and acephate reduced larval densities below those of the endrin standard. In general, surface sprays were more effective than poisoned baits.
