Pheromonal attraction of Schistosoma mansoni females toward males in the absence of worm-tactile behavior

, : Pheromonal attraction of Schistosoma mansoni females toward males in the absence of worm-tactile behavior. Journal of Parasitology 66(4): 682-684

The attraction of single female Schistosoma mansoni towards one or 3 males in the absence of worm-tactile behaviour was studied in a plexiglas chamber containing linear channels. The channels contained agar overlaid with Earle's balanced salt solution. Males were placed in chimney tubes inserted into the agar at one end of the channels. The tubes were perforated with pin holes to allow for the emission of worm excretory and secretory products of all molecular weights.
