Residues of triazine herbicides in vegetable drugs

, : Residues of triazine herbicides in vegetable drugs. Herba Hungarica 19(1): 211-216

Use of triazine herbicides desmetryn, prometryn, propazin and simazin is of great importance in the medicinal plant cultivation in the GDR [East Germany]. Residues were assessed in crops used as drugs and health care agents. Toxicological aspects and legal regulation of residue problems in the Pharmacopeia of the GDR were determined. A semiquantitative TLC method and a quantitative gas-chromatographic procedure was described to determine residues of triazine herbicides. On the basis of calculation of theoretically maximum acceptable residue amounts and results of residue-determinations in several samples, maximum acceptable residue amount for triazine herbicides was 2 mg/kg dried vegetable drug.
