Roses. Increased yields with carbon dioxide

, : Roses. Increased yields with carbon dioxide. Gb + Gw 82(5): 99-101

The effect of CO2 (1000-1200 v.p.m.) on Belinda, Mercedes and Sonia roses on Rosa canina (cv. Pollmeriana) rootstocks forced on 15 January, 7 February or 1 March was tested. CO2 always increased the yield (up to 31%) and the net profit (up to 29%) according to the cv., with Mercedes showing the greatest response. The highest percentage increase in yield was with crops forced on 1 March but the highest actual yield was from plants forced on 7 February.
