Specific studies. Seedling vigor

, : Specific studies. Seedling vigor. Centro Internacional de Agricultura Tropical: 1979 Bean program Annual report: 96, 98-99

In a study of a method for screening for seedling vigour, seeds of 20 Phaseolus vulgaris lines varying in seed size were divided into 6 vigour groups by a non-destructive seed conductivity method. Seed wt. was positively correlated with plant ht. 19 days after sowing (r = 0.57) and negatively with RGR (r = -0.89) and rate of germination index (RGI) (r = -0.75). Seed vigour categories were negatively correlated with plant ht., RGR and RGI (r = -0.83, -0.97 and -0.90, resp.).
