Studies of proteins and amylases related to wheat seed maturation and preharvest sprouting

, : Studies of proteins and amylases related to wheat seed maturation and preharvest sprouting. Agronomy Abstracts 72nd annual meeting, American Society of Agronomy: 110

Preharvest sprouting of soft white wheat (a) Daws (susceptible) and (b) Peck (resistant) was investigated with plants grown at day/night temp. of 22/12 deg and 27/17 deg in a phytotron. Seeds were collected at milk, soft dough, hard dough and ripe stages. Germinability of (a) was greater than (b) at all stages. The 27/17 deg temp. conditions produced higher germination of (b) compared with 22/12 deg. Temp. had little effect on (a).
