The South Pacific games provide competition at a relevant level and provides support for a Pacific lifestyle. However, some of the great issues which threaten the ideals of the Olympic Movement can be seen in miniature in the South Pacific games. But nationalism, racialism, sham amateurism, an all embracing professionalism, the provision of a stage to air various political grievances and the massive cost of the operation have not yet become major difficulties.
