The effect of age and weight at first calving on the productive and reproductive performance of primiparous buffaloes

, : The effect of age and weight at first calving on the productive and reproductive performance of primiparous buffaloes. Egyptian Journal of Animal Production 1980; 17(2): 117-124

Least-squares means of calf birth weight, service period, milk production in the first 120 days of lactation, and lactation milk yield are tabulated for the 1st parity of 109 buffaloes. Analysis of variance showed that postcalving weight of the females (4 classes between 400 and more than or equal to 501 kg) significantly affected calf birth weight (highest and lowest for females weighing 451-500 and less than or equal to 400 kg resp), but not the other 3 traits.
