Toxocariasis

, : Toxocariasis. Medicine International 1(2, Pt.2): 74-76

This audio-visual aid is intended for both veterinary and medical practitioners. The life-cycle of Toxocara canis in the dog and the clinical signs, diagnosis, treatment and prevention of human toxocariasis (visceral larva migrans) are described on tape and in a booklet which are designed to be used simultaneously. A set of 17 photographic slides is also provided illustrating, for example, larval migration through tissue and the granulomas induced by such larvae in the human eye. Tape-slide programmes of this kind are a novel and attractive way of communicating information and this one in particular, being on a subject of considerable public concern, should be very instructive for medical and veterinary people and public health authorities, as well as the interested layman.
