The article examines how Paraguay has managed to escape the worldwide phenomenon of urbanization. The first section investigates the extent to which any internal migration occurred in Paraguay between 1950 and 1972. In the process, the spatial distribution of Paraguay's population as well as the underlying salient social structural factors that are briefly described.
