Information is given on the morphology, biology and control of Lapaeumides dedalus (Cram.) (Castnia dedalus), of which the larvae damage the fruits and peduncles of oil palm in South America, especially in commercial plantations in Peru. The egg stage lasted 16 days, the larval stage about 8 months and the prepupal and pupal stages 28-30 days.
