Effect of exertion on the respiratory mechanics of healthy horses and horses with lung disease

, : Effect of exertion on the respiratory mechanics of healthy horses and horses with lung disease. 8 Arbeitstagung der Fachgruppe Pferdekrankheiten, 6-8 Oktober 1982 in Freiburg: 138-150

Lung compliance and resistance and oxygen partial pressure were measured in 3 healthy horses, and 17 with various degrees of bronchitis, before and at 10 and 30 minutes after a 15-minute trot. A considerable reduction of resistance and increased air flow were recorded in 3 healthy and 16 diseased horses 10 minutes after the effort. Initial values were approached after 30 minutes.
