Inhibition of elongation growth by two sesquiterpene lactones isolated from Helianthus annuus L. : Possible molecular mechanism

, : Inhibition of elongation growth by two sesquiterpene lactones isolated from Helianthus annuus L. : Possible molecular mechanism. Planta 156(5): 433-440

Two sesquiterpene lactones belonging to the germacranolides were isolated from sunflower leaves and stems. Their formation in the plant was light-dependent. Both sesquiterpene lactones (SL) strongly inhibited IAA-induced elongation growth of oat coleoptile segments and sunflower hypocotyl segments. Both SL did not inhibit acid-induced growth nor growth triggered by fusicoccin at all.
