, : Notes on the taxonomy and nomenclature of Festuca occidentalis and F. idahoensis. Canadian Journal of Botany 61(1): 337-344

F. occidentalis occurs in forests in partial shade in British Columbia from the USA border to lat. 57 deg N. F. idahoensis is found in grasslands and in openings in dry forests bordering grasslands, always in open situations. It occurs from the USA border to 51 deg N.
