Sulphur compounds in water treatment -- effect on infiltration rate

, : Sulphur compounds in water treatment -- effect on infiltration rate. Sulphur in Agriculture 3: 7-11

Irrigation waters equivalent to high salt well water and low salt canal water were infiltrated through sandy loam soils in laboratory columns. Effects on infiltration rates of additions to the water of gypsum (30-645 ppm), calcium polysulphide (0.28 ml/l) and SO2 (0.026-4.000 g SO2/l) were investigated. Increasing gypsum and SO2 additions progressively increased the flow rate; calcium polysulphide increased the flow rate with decreasing effectiveness as its concentration increased.
