, : A comparison of sod and conventionally planted peach trees. Proceedings of the 37th annual meeting of the Northeastern Weed Science Society, 1983: 249

The greatest growth of young peach New Jersey 230 trees on Halford rootstock was obtained when they were planted in a sod that had been killed and maintained with a residual herbicide. Planting in bare soil maintained with cultivation and hand hoeing was next most effective followed by planting in bare soil maintained with herbicides.
