A field trial of year-round planting of 'bullet' seedlings

, : A field trial of year-round planting of 'bullet' seedlings. Tree Planters' Notes 31(2): 21-22

Six-wk-old Pinus taeda seedlings, germinated and grown in 'bullets' (rigid plastic containers) were planted on 6 dates (Feb., March, June, Aug., Sept., Nov.) in N. Mississippi in 1968 and 1969. Survival and ht. growth were recorded annually for 3 yr, and compared with values for 1-yr-old bare-rooted seedlings lifted in Feb. and cold stored until planting on the same dates. Seedlings planted in winter showed greater survival.
