Comparative serological studies on blood and milk samples for diagnosis of enzootic bovine leukosis using the agar gel immunodiffusion test and ELISA

, : Comparative serological studies on blood and milk samples for diagnosis of enzootic bovine leukosis using the agar gel immunodiffusion test and ELISA. Deutsche Tierarztliche Wochenschrift 91(9): 313-314, 317

Paired blood and milk samples from 746 cows in 41 bovine leukosis virus (BLV) infected herds were examined for specific antibodies by means of agar gel immunodiffusion test (AGIDT) and enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). In addition, batch milk samples from the 41 herds were also tested by ELISA. ELISA of blood serum was the most sensitive test and by this means 171 cows were shown to be BLV positive.
