In a field trial in 1982, annual DM production of 24 grass spp. and ranged from 3.97 t for (a) Setaria nigrirostris to 11.07 t for (b) Echinochloa sp. without fertilizer and from 7.84 t for Guinea grass Makuenia to 16.3 t/ha for Digitaria valida with fertilizer. Percentage responses to fertilizer ranged from 0% for Paspalum guenoarum Ramirez C-123 to 124% for S. nigrirostris.
