The Lumbricidae fauna was studied in some of the woodlands left over from Roman times in the Venetian plain and compared with that of farms under maize monoculture. The most numerous species in the woodlands were: Eiseniona sineporis, Allolobophora caliginosa, Octolasium lacteum and Lumbricus rubellus. The most abundant species under maize were: Allolobophora rosea, A. califinosa, A. minuscula and Eiseniella tetraedra.
