Mineralogical studies on alluvial soils of Meerut district in Uttar Pradesh

, : Mineralogical studies on alluvial soils of Meerut district in Uttar Pradesh. Clay Research 2(1): 16-19

Silt mineral and clay mineral composition was studied in soil samples from nine different locations representing five soil groups/physiographic units, namely, old levees, old channels, aeolian deposits, undifferentiated areas, sand dunes in Meerut district. These soils are coarse to moderately fine textured and moderately to well drained with a preponderance of mica, followed by chlorite. Smectite and vermiculite were pedogenic.
