Pathological changes in the ovaries of heifers with ovarian hypofunction

, : Pathological changes in the ovaries of heifers with ovarian hypofunction. Doklady Vsesoyuznoi Akademii Sel' skokhozyaistvennykh Nauk (7): 27-28

Ovarian hypofunction and reduced uterine tension were observed in 75 of 474 heifers aged 19-25 months, weighing 320-380 kg, and kept in a shed or yard without access to grazing, in spite of serum biochemical values within physiological limits. Histological study of ovaries from 8 slaughtered heifers revealed an average of 63 follicles per section, of which 76% were primordial, 11% in the second and 13% in the third developmental stages.
