A study of topographic anatomy and nerve blocks of hind limb in camels (Camelus dromedarius)

, : A study of topographic anatomy and nerve blocks of hind limb in camels (Camelus dromedarius). Indian Veterinary Journal 61(10): 848-853

The hind limbs of three camels were dissected and the sites for anaesthetic block of the major nerves were identified. The extent and duration of anaesthesia, and the volume of 2% xylocaine required, were determined in 30 clinical trials in 10 animals. In peroneal and tibial block, 30 ml xylocaine gave good anaesthesia for 40-50 minutes. In plantar block doses of 10 ml were satisfactory.
