Better bamboo trusses

, : Better bamboo trusses. Building Research and Practice 12(6): 369-372

Four types of joint, suitable for use in bamboo trusses, were tested. The type that was chosen for further tests, mainly because of its performance and simplicity, is joined by pins (which support both the purlin and the diagonal) and the upper member of each joint is supported and protected by split bamboo. Trusses incorporating these joints can be made up to 8-m free span and can be loaded with a 4-kN permanent load and an additional live load of 2 kN.
