Biological activity of toxic metabolites isolated from pine trees naturally infected by pine wood nematodes

, : Biological activity of toxic metabolites isolated from pine trees naturally infected by pine wood nematodes. Proceedings of the United States Japan Seminar: The resistance mechanisms of pines against pine wilt disease, 7-11 May 1984, East West Center, Honolulu, Hawaii: recd 1986; 110-118

Benzoic acid and catechol were extracted from leaves of pine trees naturally infected with Bursaphelenchus xylophilus and benzoic acid, 8-hydroxycarvotanacetone and dihydroconiferyl alcohol were isolated from wood of infected pine. All 4 compounds stimulated multiplication of the nematode at low concentrations.
