Biological stability and physical behaviour of a clay-humus complex under different conditions of calcium- or potassium-saturation

, : Biological stability and physical behaviour of a clay-humus complex under different conditions of calcium- or potassium-saturation. Plant and Soil 77(2/3): 271-284

Gradual removal, by leaching with water or N KCl, of the exchangeable Ca2+ held by the organo-mineral complex of an organic soil from the Jura mountains resulted in a decline in the organic matter content of the soil as a result of microbial decomposition and N mineralisation. The exchangeable Ca2+ was replaced by H+ produced by microbial activity.
