Course of infection and treatment with sodium stibogluconate (Pentostam) in Beagles experimentally infected with Leishmania donovani (Calcutta strain)

, : Course of infection and treatment with sodium stibogluconate (Pentostam) in Beagles experimentally infected with Leishmania donovani (Calcutta strain). Untersuchungen zum Infektionsverlauf und Therapieversuche mit Na Stibogluconat Pentostam bei experimentell mit Leishmania donovani Stamm Kalkutta infizierten Beagle Hunden: 65

Fifteen Beagles inoculated intraperitoneally with this human strain passaged in hamsters developed infections that were generally symptomless apart from loss of weight. A correlation between indirect immunofluorescence titres, total serum protein values and albumin:globulin ratio was found in only five dogs. Immunofluorescence titres were boosted by reinfection at 97 and 183 days but not at 34 days after primary infection.
