Determination of storage potential of cotton seed lots

, : Determination of storage potential of cotton seed lots. Revista Brasileira de Sementes 6(1): 11-23

Moisture content, vigour and germinability of seeds of cotton IAC-13.1 were measured at 2-month intervals for 22 months and thereafter at 2- to 4-month intervals up to 50 weeks after harvest in 18 seed lots stored under ambient conditions. Vigour was estimated by accelerated aging after 48, 60, 72, 84 and 96 h at 43 degrees C and 100% RH. Germination percentage measured by standard tests remained constant up to 34 weeks although vigour appeared to decline rapidly during storage.
