Data were obtained from a farm survey in Bangladesh in 1981. The av. ages of 452 cows that were used for draught purposes and 118 cows that were not so used were 7.5 and 5.5 yr resp.; the number of calves they had produced averaged 1.10 and 0.92. During the 12 months preceding the survey, 101 cows had been mated, 22 of them by AI.
