Effect of methods of planting and types of cutting on the growth and yield of sweet potato

, : Effect of methods of planting and types of cutting on the growth and yield of sweet potato. Bangladesh Journal of Agricultural Research 9(1): 27-32

In field experiments at Pahartali in 1979-80, 3 methods of planting and 3 types of cutting were assessed for effects on sweet potato growth and yield in fertilized sandy loam soil. Ridge planting gave better leaf and vine growth and higher tuber yields (27.7 t/ha) than planting on the flat, with (22.9 t) or without (21.6 t) earthing up. Apical cuttings produced higher tuber yields than mid-vine cuttings with 3 or 5 nodes, but differences in leaf growth were small.
