Genetic and environmental effects on age at 1st oestrus in Pietrain gilts

, : Genetic and environmental effects on age at 1st oestrus in Pietrain gilts. Zuchthygiene 19(5): 205-210

Of 217 Pietrain gilts, performance-tested to 100 kg body weight, 53.9% exhibited oestrus at least once during the testing period. Age at 1st oestrus of these averaged 161.2+or-13.2 days (130-199 days). For which exhibited oestrus once, twice and 3 times during the test period, age at 1st oestrus averaged 168.8, 154.7 and 144.9 days resp.
