Magnitude of vitamin A deficiency in primary school children of Sirur: a chronically drought affected area

, : Magnitude of vitamin A deficiency in primary school children of Sirur: a chronically drought affected area. Indian Journal of Pediatrics 51(411): 423-426

Of 293 schoolchildren from a drought-affected area, 56% had signs of vitamin A deficiency with mean serum vitamin A 11.37 mu g/100 ml. The children showed Bitot's spots, night blindness and corneal scars. Children from such areas should be given vitamin A as a preventive measure.
