Migrants and mothers: case studies from Botswana

, : Migrants and mothers: case studies from Botswana. Journal of Southern African Studies 11(2): 258-280

The paper shows certain similarities between the migration of women and the male migrant labour system. In particular, the underlying circumstances of labour migration cut across differences of gender. These common circumstances are described at two levels, firstly in terms of the social, economic and political setting of Botswana in which migration takes place, and secondly in terms of the personal situation of the migrant.
