In 1981-82, 34 long-fruited, parthenocarpic, all-female hybrids, bred in the Netherlands but obtained from the Institute of Plant Industry (VIR) collection, were evaluated for their potential for cultivation and as breeding material in the greenhouses of the VIR's Pavlovsk Experimental Station.
