Study of the thermostability of promastigotes of different species of Trypanosomatidae

, : Study of the thermostability of promastigotes of different species of Trypanosomatidae. Izvestiya Akademii Nauk Turkmenskoi SSR, Biologicheskikh Nauk (1): 46-52

Cultures of promastigotes of mammalian Leishmania (2 strains of L. major and one each of L. tropica, L. hertigy, L. braziliensis and L. donovani) and of reptilian Leishmania (5 strains of L. gymnodactyli and one of L. adleri) as well as Leptomonas pessoai (from bugs) and Trypanosoma lewisi were exposed to heat (37 degrees C) and cold (3-4 degrees C). The mammalian parasites were less resistant to heat than the reptilian parasites, with mean survival rates of 16.6% and 72.6% resp.
