Comparison of three methods of measuring cation exchange capacity by potassium diffusion in soil columns

, : Comparison of three methods of measuring cation exchange capacity by potassium diffusion in soil columns. Dossiers Agronomiques d' Aspach le Bas (2): 1-13

This paper presents a method of measuring potassium diffusion in small soil columns. Excess of potassium is located at one end of a closed column filled with soil and wetted to 2/3 field capacity. Diffusion was measured on 59 different soils. This diffusion is quite well fitted to cation exchange capacity, especially if Addiscott's methodology is used, which considers mineral exchange sites.
