Control of stripe rust of wheat with fungicides applied adjacent to the seed at sowing

, : Control of stripe rust of wheat with fungicides applied adjacent to the seed at sowing. Crop Protection 6(3): 157-160

The effect of triadimenol, triadimefon and flutriafol, applied adjacent to the seed at sowing, on stripe rust on wheat cultivars with varying susceptibility to the disease, was studied in a single field experiment. Rates of application required to reduce the expected yield loss to less than 5% were calculated from the dose-response relationship of each fungicids-cultivar combination. The results suggest that 119, 102, 15 g a.i./ha triadimenol, 275, 184, 13 g a.i./ha triadimefon and 556, 255, 22 g a.i./ha flutriafol were required to achieve this level of control on cultivars Zenith, Halberd and Olympic, respectively. The yield loss on the resistant cv. Condor was <5% without chemical control.
