Development of labour productivity in the Austrian dairy industry

, : Development of labour productivity in the Austrian dairy industry. Osterreichische Milchwirtschaft 43(4): 53-55

In 1986 there were 7622 people employed in dairy and cheese factories in Austria, a decrease of 1288 compared with 1970, largely due to increased automation. However, in the same period expenditure on personnel increased 3.2-fold in absolute terms and 1.5-fold in real terms; the annual cost/employee increased from 86 000 to 322 700sch, an increase in real terms of 79% and the cost/man-hour increased by 74% in real terms.
