French fear new killer disease

, : French fear new killer disease. Farmers Weekly 108(11): 45

A study tour of 7 goat farms in the Loire Valley, France in February 1988 showed that at least 5 of the farms had goats that were seropositive to caprine arthritis encephalitis and clinical signs of the disease were seen on one farm. On 3 farms kids were being removed from their mothers at birth and being fed cow colostrum and cow's milk in an attempt to prevent transmission of the disease.
