Passage of yellow fever virus: its effect on infection and transmission rates in Aedes aegypti

, : Passage of yellow fever virus: its effect on infection and transmission rates in Aedes aegypti. American Journal of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene 35(6): 1302-1309

The effect of successive lytic passage of yellow fever virus was determined on infection and transmission rates in the vector, Aedes aegypti. Three strains of yellow fever virus from Trinidad and Peru were passaged 5 times in suckling mouse brains and 7 times in BHK-21 cells. Adult mosquitoes were fed meals containing passaged and unpassaged viruses, and the infection and transmission rates were compared.
