Rapid, inexpensive microwave oven method for total solids determination in fluid dairy products

, : Rapid, inexpensive microwave oven method for total solids determination in fluid dairy products. Journal of Dairy Science 71(Suppl. 1): 102

A 1.0+or-0.03 g sample is evenly distributed in the bottom of a pre-dried styrofoam cup, 5.5 cm diam. and 5.5 cm tall, is dried for 10 min at 520 W power in a commercially available microwave oven, cooled in a desiccator and weighed. TS content is determined by difference.
