Somatic embryogenesis in stationary phase suspension cultures derived from hypocotyl protoplasts of Brassica napus L

, : Somatic embryogenesis in stationary phase suspension cultures derived from hypocotyl protoplasts of Brassica napus L. Plant Cell, Tissue and Organ Culture 12(2): 141-146

Hypocotyl protoplasts of winter swede rape line EGK10 were isolated and underwent several passages of culture on different media to encourage embryoid development and shoot formation. Aggregates derived from the stationary or late stationary phase of the growth cycle were the only suitable inoculum for embryoid formation. To obtain organized structures, the suspension had to be cultured for 20-40 days without any medium exchange.
