Some aspects of commoditisation and transformation in rural Sudan

, : Some aspects of commoditisation and transformation in rural Sudan. Sudan: state, capital and transformation: 141-160

The paper begins by looking at commoditization of the means of production and consumption and the role of circulation capital. Increased dependence on the market to obtain the means of production has been characteristic of many farming communities during this century. Two main forces in this process are identified: the introduction of water pumps and of tractors. The role of trade and finance has also been important.
